The Owners

Bob, Kathy, Mario and Vanessa.

Mazza Chautauqua Cellars was established by the Mazza family, whose main winery is Mazza Vineyards in North East, PA. The main facility was established by two Italian-born brothers, Robert and Frank Mazza. Currently, Mazza Wines is owned and operated by Robert Mazza, his wife Kathleen, and their two adult children. Visitors can appreciate the family’s Italian heritage through the distinctly Mediterranean architecture of Mazza Chautauqua Cellars and Mazza Vineyards.

Robert Mazza, owner and proprietor of Mazza Wines, is a motivated man who truly cares about local business and the wine and grape industries. You may have seen him interviewed on local television whenever wine or grapes are deemed newsworthy. He has long been intricately involved in the wine industry, and is always looking for a way to increase the quality of his operations and products. He has also been instrumental in increasing recognition of wines from the Pennsylvania and New York areas.

A retired schoolteacher, Kathleen Mazza can often be found at the South Shore Wine Company, Mazza Chautauqua Cellar’s more historical sister winery. Kathleen’s support has been credited by her husband to be instrumental in the early development of the business, and her continued work is a benefit to event hosts, tourists and local history lovers.

Mario Mazza, enologist and head winemaker of Mazza Wines, can usually be found in the winemaking office or cellar at the main facility, Mazza Vineyards. He spends his time orchestrating the diverse mechanisms of fine-wine and juice production. When he’s not at the winery, he can be found in various vineyards or classrooms, discussing grape quality with local grape farmers, or teaching others about oenology, viticulture, and wine-appreciation.

Vanessa Mazza, who recently earned her MA in art therapy, contributes to the family business on a smaller scale. Vanessa helps to promote Mazza Chautauqua Cellars, its sister wineries and other local wines through label and product design, merchandising, websites, advertisements and promotional materials in restaurants and bars.
